Maribel Gangas

  I am forest engineering student and I chose this career because I like plants, the forest and nature. When I was little I wanted to be in the military because I liked to play sports and be in extreme situations. This changed when I was in my fourth year of high school. I realized that I wanted to study something related to caring for nature and I had two options, the first was industrial engineering and the second was forestry engineering, both options at different universities. When applying, I put industrial engineering as the first option, but I was left with the second option, which was forestry engineering. So far I have really liked the career, especially the field trips where we have to recognize plant species and learn about the dynamics of forests.

  I am Maribel Elizabeth Gangas Montoya, but I prefer to be called Eli, I’m 20 year old and I live in town of Santa Barbara, located in the southern Chile.   I studied elementary school at El Huachi, and in 7 th grade I transferred to the Cacique Levian school until I finished 8 th grade. I went to Cardenal Antonio Samoré high school and graduated in 2020. I´m currently studying forest engineering at the University of Chile an that is why I live in Santiago. My mother is Felicita Montoya and my father is Rodrigo Gangas, I have a sister, she is 14 years old and studies at the Santa Barbara school. I like reading romance novels and fiction novels, I usually watch series on Netflix or HBO. On vacations I like to go trekking in the mountains with my friends and my boyfriend and swimming in the rivers, it is a very nice experience.
