MY BIBLIOGRAPHY

 

I am Maribel Elizabeth Gangas Montoya, but I prefer to be called Eli, I’m 20 year old and I live in town of Santa Barbara, located in the southern Chile.

 I studied elementary school at El Huachi, and in 7th grade I transferred to the Cacique Levian school until I finished 8th grade. I went to Cardenal Antonio Samoré high school and graduated in 2020. I´m currently studying forest engineering at the University of Chile an that is why I live in Santiago.

My mother is Felicita Montoya and my father is Rodrigo Gangas, I have a sister, she is 14 years old and studies at the Santa Barbara school.

I like reading romance novels and fiction novels, I usually watch series on Netflix or HBO. On vacations I like to go trekking in the mountains with my friends and my boyfriend and swimming in the rivers, it is a very nice experience.

My favourite piece of technology

  I have two favorite pieces of technology, my cell phone and my ipad, I usually use my cell phone much more, because it is smaller and I can do more things on it, I usually use it to watch social networks for hours, plus I can organize myself with applications like notes or calendar, sometimes I use it to watch series on netflix or HBO but I usually watch series on the ipad, also the ipad allows me to read books in epub or pdf better than on the cell phone because it is much bigger, I also use it to take notes for college and for me is much better than using notebooks because I have everything together and organized on the ipad. These pieces of technology have affected me positively because they make my life easier, I have all the information and entertainment at my fingertips, but they have also affected me negatively because they make me disconnect from real life. I recommend using them but with responsibility because they are very useful but also addictive.

Brasil

 I would like to visit Brazil, especially with a friend. Some time ago we are planning a trip to Brazil, since we want to go to the Caribbean and it seems to us that it is the most convenient country, but it is complicated because we do not have time for the university. This country is in South America, it’s known for it’s carnivals, the statue of “Cristo Redentor” in the city of Rio de Janeiro, beaches like Copacabana and the incredible architecture of Sao Paulo. What I would like the most is to visit the various beaches that Brazil has since I love the sea. I would also like to know part of the Amazon, the trees and animals that live there, this is a little more complicated and dangerous, but I hope I can do it. Roundtrip tickets are around $170,000 (Chilean pesos) in low season, the problem is that we never have free time in low season to make the trip. I hope it will be soon, I really want to travel to Brazil.

 A website that I really like is "Catalogue of the vascular plants of Chile" http://catalogoplantas.udec.cl/  is a website that was shown to me when I was researching a genus of plants. This web site constitutes taxonomic and geographic information of the flora of the country, it is to know which species grow in a certain territory of the country. At the beginning of the website, you can enter the common or scientific name of a plant and it provides data such as family, synonyms, habitat, distribution, as well as images of the species and a map with their distribution. I like the website because it shows me the distribution of the species I am interested in and that is important because I can know in which part of the country, I can find the species. I visit this website very often because I like to know where I can find different plant species and I would also like to find new species and contribute information to this catalog.
